Bottlehill Meeting 4. December 2006

At a meeting in Bottlehill, where SWS did a presentation regarding the “benefits” of industrial wind turbines in the area, KLADEA members were able to inform unaware community members how these machines would affect their health, their quality of life and the value of their properties.

 

Recent developments nation wide 

Once a developer succeeds in obtaining permission for just 1 Turbine, it is proven to be ‘carte blanche’ for the construction of as many more turbines as will fit in the area.

 

Lecture by Eirgrid in CTI 30. January 2007  

At the Lecture at the Cork Technical Institute regarding the economics of Wind generation a representative of SWS informed the audience that, even though off shore wind turbines are more effective, developers prefer on land turbines because it is cheaper.

 

Submission to EPA February 2007 

 

The Environmental Protection Agency has invited submission from the Public regarding environmental priorities. KLADEA has made a submission outlining why land based industrial turbines must be a top priority for the EPA.

 

Launch of Cork/Kerry Tourism Marketing Strategy 01.March 2007  

During a presentation at a convention of Failte Ireland at the Rochestown Park Hotel in Cork, it was mentioned that Wind farms could have a detrimental effect on tourism.

 

General activity update.

During the past months KLADEA has written many letters to national newspapers and has been in correspondence with politicians, with SWS and with landowners.
